so i had a little scare about a month ago. im on an IMAP mail server and the server crashed and when i went to look at my emails they were all gone. I have numerious folders and emails in those folders and they were all lost. luckily the admins were able to get the servers back up and restore all my emails:D. now that i have my new MB im using the mail app to check my emails and im wondering if the server ever went out again would all the emails that i have on my comp be lost again because its an IMAP account?

I believe that any emails you have downloaded will remain on your Mac. You can try a quick experiment by disconnecting from the internet and seeing if you can still read some of them. This is essentially what will happen if your server goes down.
