Chaining replies is neat, but its really flawed. Most of the time, you the other user may not be aware of what you're replying to (because despite you replying to their one message, if it's apart of a chain, it follows the chain).

Message replies are substantially better on Messenger/Instagram, and many other platforms. I feel as if Apple's method is to be 'unique', but its pretty flawed and behind the competition. Anyone else agree?

I’m having problems seeing who I am messaging. Someone sends me a text and I end up replying to the person I last sent a text to. My husband just asked his boss to buy underwear. That was in reply to my text to him asking if he needed anything as I was at Costco. Not cool, Apple, not cool.

You can reply to an individual message in a chain – long-press it and select Reply.

It happens to me sometimes. Try “pinning” most important contact in iMessage.

Yeah its a cumbersome implementation. In general, iMessage's UI really needs to be cleaned up.
