I just got info that AT&T customers can't reach 911 in Texas.
If you are an AT&T customer in TX please save your local non emergency numbers.

My friends at City Hall confirm.
    It's a statewide issue.

Same here, it's going to cause many issues.

Spread the news if you know people in TX, it might save some lives.

Just got a report that T-Mobile customers are also excluded from 911 calls. Can't confirm.
    --- Post Merged, Mar 8, 2017 ---
Update: T-Mobile is experiencing ghost 911 calls. Operators have to call back numbers without knowing if the original call was a legitimate call or not.

It is nation wide for ATT. No service here in Florida for ATT.

Local TV stations are scrolling local phone numbers on the bottom of the screen to call for emergencies

Wow, that is very serious. Hopefully it is resolved ASAP.
Very embarrassing for AT&T and potentially a legal nightmare. I just hope there are no deaths because of this, but in a country so big like the US, I think it is probable. I hope I am wrong.

We have survived thousands of years without cell phones.

if you have a serious emergency you call 911, you don't digress by talking about history and survival. This is important.

Many people no longer have land lines and a lot of people didn't survive before there was a way to easily call emergency services.

This is important, but if you Google "911 system down", this happens (at the city/county level across the US) on a pretty regular basis. Sometimes to where no calls (cell or landline) go through...

I'll be curious to see if it was some sort of cyber attack or just a random bug.

Happens very frequently in Cleveland, Ohio. Mayor has all kinds of excuses. People drive family members to the hospital regularly. Should not happen but it's a frequent occurrence.

Was this wireless only? Apple interrupted service longer than that with an iOS update. No calls at all inluding 911 for more than 24 hours IIRC. I think it was iOS 8.1.

August 2003 we had a power outage that affected one third of the country. No cell towers, traffic signals lights, business closed, homes dark. The outage lasted a while. It was reported that an error was made in one power plant that had a domino effect on the grid.
