I know people ask versions of this all the time, what I'm looking to find out from those used to the 27" iMac all the time is if there are any similar non-Apple monitors with the screen quality (and glossy finish) that's similar to the 27" iMacs?

And I mean by the experience, not the tech specs. I do 12+ hours of text all day, but then also like to watch movies on the same monitor.

I'm being forced into a desktop Mac that's not an iMac, and love the 27" iMac display. I spent more than half my life on those the last 10 years, and am still very happy with the glossy, crisp, and bright display.

Most of the time when people ask about this, people say "the Dell 24K display...." (or whatever display) and when I go find someone with an office with this display, whatever it is, it's a nice resolution but not as bright or whatever effect that glossy Apple finish gives. Now I'm looking at the next step, the 32" Apple HDR but that gives me a $5,000 "budget" to find something better. Is there a non-Apple monitor that might be as good as the "old" 27 5K monitors that's 42" that's not so popular because it's so expensive?

I'm looking for that same experience of the 2017 and up iMac 27" iMac displays, and just comparing a certain "K" doesn't always mean it's similar or better.

If anyone knows of an amazing or similar to the iMac display in a monitor, based on experience, not tech specs, I'd love to know...

Thanks!

Apple Studio Display.

But I mean aside from that. I'm thinking for $1,600 in Samsung or some other brand's value I could get a 38" or even 42" monitor that's OLED that someone might have seen that displays as nice or nicer.

I know a whole bunch of people will quickly chime in to disagree ...

But...

I find 4k with scaling to be absolutely more than fine -- great in fact.
It's one of those things that you get used to quickly and totally forget it's not as perfect as 5k at 27 or 6k at 32

It's still fantastic though

To me, any minor tradeoff is worth opening up the huge world of screen options.

For instance, I'd personally take a $1k-ish 32" high refresh rate OLED 4K over a Studio Display...all day...every day... not even close

I've tried 5k/27" and the OLED and High Refresh Rate and larger screen are far more important and massively increase usage enjoyment for me personally. I'm sure I'd love 6k, but not if it means going back to only 60hz and also losing OLED -- nor dropping $3k+

Yes! THIS is what I was looking for. The experience, not the specs numbers as much. I am going to look into this "4k with scaling" idea... thank you!

Could you give us example(s) of good $1k-ish 32" high refresh rate OLED 4K monitors you use now or have used?
