Despite our varying opinions on several subjects - I wanted to give a shout out to Anthony's podcast interview conducted on ipadpossibilities.com

It's an interesting (part 1) interview in which Anthony talks about his profession and how he plans on using the iPad. And what made it interesting for me to listen to is that even though he types very similar thoughts and ideas in this forum, and this might sound like a "knock" - he comes across as very articulate and rational in his explanations. Dare I say - perhaps more so than on here - which I think he sometimes sounds like a giddy teen who can't wait to get his hands on one. Sorry Anthony - I really don't mean any disrespect - quite the contrary.

Also interesting is how candid he is in talking about his use of the Kindle. Here is someone who you might think, based on his posts, would seemingly throw the Kindle to the waste-side as soon as he picks up his iPad. And maybe he will. But he does talk about how great a device it has been for him and how, as I've mentioned (and others) - it's great at a SINGLE thing - reading. It was interesting to hear that he likes the Kindle specifically because it leads to no other distractions. The device doesn't do anything well other than server as an eReader.

I will be very interested in seeing whether or not he adopts the iPad for all his scripts. I bet he will (I bet you will Anthony) - but at the same time - as nice as it might be to read on that iPad screen - the iPad will afford you those distractions you were hoping to avoid. So it will be interesting if you are as productive ;)

Anyway - it's a good listen - and even for me, who is not ready to buy the iPad as it's been presented - it's always good to hear various opinions. And it's not often you can "hear" another board member discuss subjects in a calm and informative manner.

Well gee Sam thanks for the kind words :D (Is there a blushing emoticon???)

I do appreciate that, particularly after we've had our moments here!

Funny thing - unless you *really* take the time to craft a thorough post, it's easy to sound like a gleeful (or spiteful) teen. And I'll admit, particularly since I actually work for a living (!) that I often don't take the time to be thorough and thoughtful. Tim gave me the opportunity to go on and on. And on. Frankly if you really listened to the whole thing then . . . wow!

So, thanks again. I definitely plan on retiring my MBP, and selling my hackintosh dell mini9. The Kindle2 stays in the drawer at the start as I want to give the iPad every opportunity to go it alone. So yeah we'll see how that plays out.

    Cheers and thanks again.
    TM

PS - re: the distractions, I sort of hope that I'll be able to turn multi-tasking off much like we can turn off notifications, at least that way I can have some peace and quiet :)

I listened to part 1 already too...can't wait to hear the rest of it!

And good luck Anthony! That'll definitely be an interesting experience, I'm sure.

Better make sure you pick up 1Password for iPad whenever it comes out - it should be a big help in not having to remember all your websites :)

Thanks for the tip. I checked on the appstore (on the iPhone, not in iTunes) and, well, sorry to be dense, but is this basically a secure version of auto-fill?
