In your opinion, what is the most dangerous* kind of firearm?

(edit: Of COURSE they are all dangerous, but IN YOUR OPINION, what is MORE dangerous. Use whatever metric you choose, post about it.
This is a RAW, EMOTIONAL, GUT poll. Do not analyze it, just vote (if you want).)

*Dangerous, /ˈdeɪndʒərəs/ likely to harm or kill someone, or to damage or destroy something

Question is YOUR opinion, does not have to be fact based.

    • Hand gun: designed for one hand, typically less than 7" (170cm) barrel, both revolver and magazine fed types.**
    • Shot gun: fires off a bunch of small pellets, the "shot", short range.
    • Rifle, high powered: requires manual cocking to load next chamber in.
    • Rifle, semi-auto: lower power version of a rifle, but next round is automatically cambered, simply pull trigger to fire again %

**Many revolvers are actually "semi-automatic", meaning each time the trigger is pulled, another round is fired.
There does exist "revolver machine guns", the "Gatling gun" is a well known type of revolver machine gun.

%Semi-automatic can never be as powerful as hand chambered (bolt, lever, manual load) as a significant portion of the propellent energy is diverted from projectile to loading in the next round.

You're missing a choice... All of the above.

Any firearm is dangerous, if used irresponsibly or maliciously.

If you limit the choice to be "What is the most dangerous kind of firearm at distances greater than 25 yards, the answer is a rifle. Obviously. But even that is not totally correct, considering an irresponsible accident.

It is the handling that makes a firearm dangerous.

Dangerous for whom? In what circumstances?

I would say a cocked and unlocked semi-auto handgun is the most dangerous for use in a juggling act. Though a cocked and unlocked pistol-grip semi-auto shotgun may exceed it slightly, as it seems inherently more difficult to juggle.

Depends on what you mean by "dangerous".

Do you mean most likely to be involved in an accident?, Most likely to be involved in a crime?, Most likely to inflict an instantly fatal wound?

There are too many interpretations of the term "dangerous" for me to answer this poll.

The poll says "In your opinion".

So it doesn't matter what kind of circumstance it is.

No, YOU are not reading the question.

It is a raw public opinion poll.
I am not looking to break it down into a thousand different scenarios.

    THANK you!

    Please re-read question.

Thank you all so much I thought that it was my bad English, that the question was open to so many interpretations, there is just to many unknowns to make any answer.

Sorry but I think you should go back to the drawing board.

I understand the question, I'd be glad to give you my opinion when you give me the definition of "dangerous" to be used in giving my answer.

If a major polling company called and asked that same question and you said that?

They would just toss your response and find someone who would give a gut answer.

So, how would you phrase the question?

    I wouldn't ask the question.

Do you walk to school or take your lunch?

How would you answer that question?

I think that you are trying to spread your question to wide.

As a firearms owner I know that all weapons have there limitations.
    Different weapons for different situations.

If you are asking which firearm induces the most fear in the general population then ask that.

If you are asking which firearm is the most prone to accidents then ask that.

You get the idea, I do hope this has been of some help.

    Really?

Just for you, I added the Macmillan dictionary definition of dangerous. Others used "Harm, Injury, Loss," etc

I'm being stubborn because I've used this type of question to trap people in their ignorance, and I'm suspicious that you're doing the same.

No, this is EXACTLY what I am asking for.

EMOTIONAL, GUT opinions, becuase this is what the media and politicians are doing.

I sorry but you are really trying to hard to show that some people have a misguided idea over firearms in general.:p

    Um,
    It's an Anonymous poll...?

As other pointed out, there is so many ways to measure the "dangerousness" of a firearm, how can it be definitive?

I'm looking to make those who want more gun control look stupid, so I created this inane poll. In your opinion, what is the most dangerous kind of firearm?

    How's that?

The poll is missing a "None of the above" response.

In my opinion, I don't think any type of firearm listed is inherently more dangerous than any other type of firearm listed. At least not in the "RAW, EMOTIONAL, GUT" sense asked for.

If anyone reading agrees with this, you can upvote this post as a way to tally "None of the above" opinions. (I don't know if questions can be added to a poll, but if they can, it might be better to do that rather than repurpose upvotes.)

I guess I agree, since I said that in the first response.

It's also missing a "All of the above" and I'm scared of "Bunnies with big guns"

Well then I'll say none. Based on my interpretation of the question.

It's bullets fired from a gun that are actually dangerous. And you asked nothing about bullets. Sure there are people who are "pistol whipped", but these are few and far between and I think that fits in the same category as clubs and fists.

    Does that satisfy your curiosity?

The most amazing thing about this poll is that 7 people (when I last looked) actually responded to it.

In my opinion the most dangerous kind of firearm is the kind that can be used to murder someone.

Whether its at the hands of a civilian or the police/military.
