Hello,

I need help!

I am trying to install an HP Laserjet 5100 printer onto my Mac (10.5.6) with little success. I have downloaded the driver and when I double click on the .dmg file, I go through the steps and install it. It says it is correctly installed. Yet, I cannot see it when I try to print something.

What am I doing wrong? Where can I go? A bit of help here would be grand.

Thanks heaps :)

Have you tried adding the printer yet?

After intstalling the drivers, you need to go into

:apple: -> System Preferences -> Print & Fax

Click on the + sign at the bottom left and add the printer to the list. Give it a name, etc.. If the printer is on, it usually sees it right away and has everything there for you.

Thanks for replying,

I have installed it and done this stage. However, it does not appear in the list. When I go to + it, it goes to another page but it is not listed.

Hi again,

I tried to download from that link you gave me but it takes me to a website what is in Japanese.

Help?

Sorry!

I have a 5100tn, used the drivers from the HP website, and had no problems printing from Leopard through the printer's ethernet card.

How are you cabled to the printer?

If you click on the "download now" links it gives you a page in japanese? I get a page in english when I click those, thats what I'm saying. There are 2 .dmg files that those links lead to.

Yes, the links are bad. Sorry.

The HP's official stuff should simply work anyhow. Again, is the printer attached and hooked up when you go to add? How is it connected? Ethernet? If so and if you have a hub, switch or router, temporarily disconnect the internet ethernet wire from the hub, switch or router while adding the printer. Then put it back. Did you download both pieces of software from HP's site?
