I wanted to leave this a few months before mentioning it on here because I'd submitted the feedback to Apple and was hoping an update might fix something. But after eight public releases of iOS 11 FaceTime is still killing the battery of my iPhone 7. A 20 minute video call, over WiFi, yesterday took me from 48% battery life to 16%, and leaving me with a burning hot phone. As someone who works abroad I rely on FaceTime so I don't get charged for international calls by my network, but since iOS 11 I can only realistically make one/two FaceTime video calls a day with this battery life. Not a problem with iOS 10. Anyone else having this experience?

Yes, my experience is that Facetime is battery burner, ~30% batter for 20 minutes call seems in line with my iPhone 7. That is why I prefer to use Whatsapp, since it has no video it wastes much less battery life as well as data. And not seeing each other is actually convenient.

FaceTime Audio does that.

I'm finding it pretty bad on an iPhone 7 plus. Will probably lose 1-2pc per minute and phone gets hot. Other than FaceTime all is fine.

Interestingly a friend with iPhone 8 sense to say FaceTime has a much smaller impact perhaps 0.5pc/minute

you should say: iOS 11 killing battery

I probably should have done but I wanted to make sure I was specific. The problem is if you make sweeping statements like that on this forum, people snap back with "PROVE IT!", "NOT FOR EVERYONE!", "iOS 11 IS THE BEST THING SINCE JESUS, YOU MUST BE DOING SOMETHING WRONG", "MY GRAN'S, CLEANER'S, BROTHER'S SHOE SHINER HAS AN iPHONE 5S AND HIS IS RUNNING PERFECTLY!".

Yes iOS 11's battery life on iPhone 7 is bad - but it's not stopping me use the phone, but the FaceTime performance is EXCEPTIONALLY bad, to the point where I have to time calls specifically to where I know I can reach a charger or not make them. That's why I thought I'd pick on that, but you're right.
