Dear Community,

i don't want to swear about iOS 14 now, as I do have the some of the same problems as most of the Users here- starting from bad battery life up to some bugs.

But, honestly a question came up in my mind and i don't know if anyone can answer it- but let's give it a try:

Let's say, Tim Cook is also using an iPhone, doesn't matter if iPhone 11, iPhone 12 or an iPhone 8 Plus- if he uses an iPhone, he is (i assume) using iOS 14.2 or even one of the Beta's. Well, I think he should have the same problems like his customers- running out of battery, seeing bugs here and then... but why isn't anything changing then? I mean, if I'm the CEO of a Multi-Billion-Company I would be pissed after a while if the software, my staff is developing, doesn't work as expected and customers (and media) complain all the time. Or if I'm running out of battery all the time?

So, my question is:
Is there a Tim Cook iOS 14-Version? A version where everything works? A version where the battery lasts? A bug-free version? A version installed by his engineers just for him?

Honestly, it's just a thought and i'm curious- but how could someone be on stage every couple of month, talking to us about "Amazing new things" and doesn't see (or want to see) the reality? How the Twitteraccount of Apple is exploding? How the Users in the official Apple Forum are complaining? I mean, I do understand that here at Macrumors everyone has other iOS 14 experiences- but we all seem to survive with iOS 14 and keep our fingers crossed for the next Update, the next Beta.

But what about Tim?

I use both iPados 14 and iOS 14 extensively, what bugs are you encountering? I haven’t seen that many to be honest. I’m quite happy overall. There are some obviously, as with all os’ but you’re obviously living in a hellish minefield. What are you talking about that’s affected you specifically?

Hi @cupcakes2000,

i'm a regular reader of this forum and especially of the Current OS and Beta Threads. I don't want to discuss my experiences with iOS 14 here right now. I read about issues, providing Feedback to Apple and the Question just came up in my mind:

Does Tim Cook have the same experience of iOS 14 or is he maybe living in a OS-Bubble where he doesn't get in touch with those issues, people are discussing here?

Ah, ok. Got it. Just a thread to aim some anger at a man in charge of a big company because of undisclosed ’stuff’.

You obviously have no idea what it takes to create, maintain and fix software such as IOS. Everyone uses there phones differently running different apps at the same time, etc. Anyone who thinks that any real company let alone something such as Apple would like to produce software with bugs doesn't understand business and software.
If you really read IOS 14 and prior threads many of the issues turn out to be with the apps people run - not saying there aren't bugs in IOS but the whole environment effects how devices run as well as how each user experiences it.

So you are asking if there's a flawless version of iOS that Apple for some reason only develops for their CEO's phone, but they don't offer that version for their customers? :)

That does not make much sense.

Yes, Tim Cook has the same problems with his iPhone as any other user with the same iPhone, iOS version and apps.

And I personally don't have any problems with iOS 14 on my iPhone or iPad that are worth mentioning.

Dumbest and most ridiculous question and assumption that I think I ever seen on this forum.

"ok, we've got 2 versions of ios 14 ready to go; one is perfect, flawless. put that on tim's phone. the other is buggy, unfinished. give that to everyone else".

this is, of course, how all corporations do business...

Got the 12 Pro Max on launch day, set up as new, as I always do...and honestly I have not experienced one major bug at all.

Only thing I am experiencing is faster battery drain (still make it through the day, but with less battery than my 11 Pro Max) but that must have to do with being connected to 5G. Not sure if Apple can really fix that, as the Qualcomm 5G modems need a lot of juice, but please someone correct me if I am wrong on that.

Other than battery drain which I do not attribute to iOS 14 as explained, iOS 14 has been one of the most stable iOS releases for me ever.

Also, Tim Cook does not get any "special" version of iOS for his iPhone. That would be absurd.

:apple:

Why would Tim Cook's iPhone run out of battery?

Pre-COVID he probably spent less than an hour commuting to work. Plus the dude is a fitness fanatic, is at the gym really early before SF Bay Area traffic turns into a sh!tstorm. And I am pretty sure that his car has charger.

Then he arrives at work. Plugs the phone into a charger and goes about his merry way as a Fortune 5 CEO. It's not like he's toiling in some remote location far away from an electrical outlet.

The guy doesn't even fly commercial. He probably drives his car to the executive terminal at SJC or maybe Moffett Field to hop aboard a Gulfstream or Learjet.

Dude isn't stuck with the Great Unwashed waiting hours in some stupid airport terminal because he's too poor to sit in the American Express Centurion Lounge.

The airplane waits for Tim, not the other way around.
