On my 16 pro and the other 16 pros with my mates. All have stutters when swiping home and opening apps. 18.0.1 doesn’t fix this. It’s so annoying. Had it all through iOS 17 on my 15 pro. Does 18.1 fix this?

I get bad stutters when I am scrolling up and down the settings page it just seems to jump when it needs to show then next bunch of items rather then scrolling smoothly. 16pro on 18.0.1

I honestly can’t say I have seen that on beta 5. I updated my iPhone 16 Pro from 18.0 to 18.1 beta 5 about 10 days ago via IPSW and all appears to be working smoothly.

so there is hope then when they release 18.1

There are other issues with beta 5. But I’ve not seen stuttering yet. I tried scrolling in settings and it’s fine. Opening and closing apps is also smooth. Unless it’s specific apps?

Good news. Thanks for sharing.

Yes I’m getting stutters and jitters when scrolling. Happens in multiple apps, native and non native. The worst spot for me is the Add a Control screen in the control center. When scrolling there, it’s such a mess.

But apps like Reddit, Instagram, and FB messenger does it randomly as well. The text will bounce up when the scrolling is slowing to a stop.

I even see it in the native settings app sometimes.

Edit: with 16 Pro

I have noticed this too when opening apps and scrolling. 18.0.1 16 PM
Really hope it’s improved soon.

It really is. 18.0.1 is a mess. Constant frame drops and stuttering across the board on most apps on my iPad Pro and iPhone 15. 18 was ironically more stable and smoother

I downloaded 18.1 beta 6. Much less stuttering but will see after a few days.

It’s not a stupid hardware problem. It’s software. An iPhone 1 running iOS 3 has smoother animations than an 400x more powerful iPhone 16.

On a side note it seems to be very random. It’ll stutter bad for a while then a lot smoother at other times.

I find this.

How do you know it’s not a hardware problem?

My iPhone 13 was always freezing and I thought it would be a software issue. After calling Apple they told me that it was hardware problem and I got a new device.

Instead of waiting for an update I’d call Apple and tell them what’s happening. It’s very very unlikely that this problem exists after so many (betas included) still exists.
