Not trying to troll, but my experience with iOS in recent years has been getting worse, and worse, and worse.

I can list a few elements, just to name a few:
  • Spell check still nominating incorrect spelling but on words that "bleed into other words". So when you click to correct, it replaces the misspelled word AND half the following word. Pathetic. This has been a problem in multiple iOS's.
  • Siri when asked to make a note doesn't have a timing limit on dictated notes, so it can't process a longer note (instead of cutting you off), and sits there trying to process your dictated note until failure. Again, stupid.
  • Focus & "Work" etc settings require you to "opt in" on each contact in your phone book. And selecting Apps to give you notifications on the Focus feature is also "opt in". How stupid do you have to be Apple? It's usually only about 4 or 5 phone numbers related to work that you DON'T want contacting you when you're at home. And it's usually only about 4 or 5 apps you don't want giving you notifications when you're at home. Are you thick? How about "Select all" as an option, then deselect the items you DO NOT want giving you notifications at that time. Again, stupid.
  • Drop down white half opaque notifications stating Using Apple AirPods or other such crap, can't be turned off, get in the way of using the app on front of screen. Particularly annoying when trying to interact with other alerts that drop down in the same screen space. Apple are you stupid? Maybe have the two type of alerts appear in different parts of the screen space?
  • Notes start with "HEADING 1" format in super large font. How about: I'll decide if I want a header, you just start us off with the body text like a normal text writing program. Instead, opening a quick note in the supermarket, first requires changing the font to "body" first, then clicking off the settings, then starting to type. Stupid and wastes time, ruins the experience.
  • Apple Music showing tracks as large icons, with no list view – are you absolutely STUPID? Maybe try going back to user experiences from WinAmp upwards, through iTunes, to...hmm..maybe Spotify? To see that people like seeing their tracks in a LIST, not in a tiled randomised set of tracks. So so stupid.
  • Battery analysis graphs – so you can tell me what app has used my battery in the last 24 hours? Well done genius, what I want to know is what is sapping my battery in THE LAST 3 HOURS. I have to align the rings of Saturn and predict the Azimuth of Pluto to determine if it's Safari, or Uber, eating my battery.
Apple is absolute crap. They have ditched their UX processes, they are failing in basic aspects.

The fact that the iPhone has gone in 2013 from a joy for most people to use, to a WORSE more inaccurate user experience, says VOLUMES about the company's future. Focus on making quality products, not releasing new devices with the same crap iOS.

You were to lazy to look into the settings for "Focus" or "Notes", weren't you?

Also, I don't get what you mean with "Apple Music showing tracks as large icons, with no list view ..."?

EDIT:
And your battery rant is also nonsense, since you can see your battery usage for every hour.
Thanks – so this is a great example of the “opt in” mistake (in my view a mistake), because I don’t think anybody wants to have to go through and manually select every single entity that can give a notification.

It should be the other way around, where you de-select the entities. As in: I want to receive the normal notifications in this setting EXCEPT for these 3 apps and these 2 people.

On the battery life, the choices in the percentage measurements are either 24 hours, or 10 days. They should be giving you the option to show the percentages for the last hour, three hours, six hours, nine hours, etc.

Learn to read and understand what you read: Focus settings DOES give you the option you want. You want 4-5 people from work NOT to contacting you? Just select "Silence Notifications From".
Also you can tab on the graph in the battery usage section to see usage for that hour.

Settings->Focus->Work:
“Allowed People for Notifications - Choose the people you want notifications from when this Focus is on.”

This is the “opt-in” mistake Apple have made that I’m talking about. Should be de-select. Poor design.

And I want to know in terms of percentage aggregate what is using my battery across three or four hours, not just one hour, that is poor design.

Are you not seeing the screenshot I posted above? 🤨
Also, because YOU want to see battery usage across three or four hours, the current implementation is bad design? What about other people who may want to look at 2 hours or 5-6 hours?
Just admit most of your rant is pointless and move on.

Yeah I think the screenshot you posted is for Do Not Disturb?

No worries, it’s definitely a rant and the majority of it is about poor design choices by Apple in iOS.

Thank you though for pointing out the settings for Notes where I can change the default starting font to be body text - that is a positive contribution to the discussion, thank you.

What does it matter if it's Do not disturb, Work, Fitness or any other Focus? It's for all the same.

You were to lazy to look into the settings for "Focus" or "Notes", weren't you?

Wow I had no idea that was a thing either 😵 it did always bother me as well but I hardly use the Notes app

I do agree with the OP about the first point. It is driving me nuts as well. You type „walkied“ by mistake, you take the suggestion but then it writes „walked ied“

How about people not being lazy a*** and learn their basic stuff or just look and read? Every now and than there is someone coming with a rant about how things don't work or how this and that sucks and sooooo many times it turns out to be nonsense and the ranter was just to lazy/stubborn/cool/whatever to look if there maybe an option to change it.
Some time ago, there even was a thread of someone asking what minimizing a window in macOS does. I don't even know what do say about that one. 🤷‍♂️

Maybe next time the OP could just put his issues in the form of a question. It’s easy to get frustrated when you’re tr to do something. There are so many tips and tricks to get something done

I could agree only on battery graph. It’s crazy that it shows last 24 hours not “since last charge”. Of course SoT will look nice when you had 2 charges in between…

Here’s an idea, relax, it’s a phone nerd.

I mean you can just click on whatever hour you want on the graph and it breaks it down for you lol. The ability to break down my battery usage between 3.02pm and 5.38pm just seems over the top and unnecessary IMO.

We used to have that but they conveniently took that away when they had the "battery" shiatstorm a few years ago.
That’s right, I remember even times when only way to see graph was to jailbreak… around iOS 6-7. Stupid ;-/

As others have pointed out, a lot of these complaints are your fault for not looking up the settings.

Some people prefer to start a note with the heading, and in a H1 font. But you can start a note with body text.

I would definitely disagree. In fact the experience is so good that I don’t even rush to upgrade iOS anymore since everything works so well.

Nice nice - we have lots of opinions on here and thanks everyone.

So are you saying I should ignore this opening request from iOS when I go to set up Focus->Work?
“Allowed People for Notifications - Choose the people you want notifications from when this Focus is on.”

If I ignore that and don’t choose anyone, are you saying that there’s an option to “Silence notifications from”, in Focus-Work in the screens after that initial setup?

I ask this because I want @Mr.Blacky to post some screenshots for us all to see, in relation to the question that was actually asked.

Just putting this here so that people can read what was written. Notice I’m not asking about Do Not Disturb.

@Mr.Blacky probably best not to engage in ad hominem attacks saying people don’t read. It’s okay, you’re probably a great person, and I forgive you.

I completely agree on not rushing to upgrade – holy heck sometimes the upgrade makes everything upside down for a week or two😂
