I know iOS 4 doesn't officially support 1G, but has anyone managed to force it on there somehow? I'd like to play around with it, even if I get horrible performance. Just to see what it's like.

iPod touch iOS on iPod Touch 1G?

Well if they can get Android semi-working on an iPhone, I don't think this is too much of a stretch.
I decided to jailbreak my iPod touch 1st gen after hearing that ios 4 would not be supported and now I have folders and multitasking on it so I'm good. performance wise, it's still good. I use my Ipod all day for email, music, videos everything and the battery makes it through the day, so I'm happy.

Just Jailbreak it, itll have more benefits. Ive heard alot of good things about spirit.

I decided to jailbreak my 1g. Since there doesn't seem to be any official updates I thought why not. It so great! Really tempted to do my phone now too... I have a felling apple will be introducing quite a few people to jailbrake this way.
1g runs great with radio open in background (which is all i wanted), performance and battery are fine. I installed Insomniac so can have wifi always connected (great for yak!).
