iPad 3 - all new features

Now more and more people are claiming to have inside knowledge of Apple's plans, so for the heck of it I'm now 'claiming' I do as well.

Let's see if I can beat Digitimes' accuracy of 55%. Let's see if I can beat that.

Obviously, I will be as vague as Digitimes sometimes is. So, this is what you can expect.

- March release [can still change]
- Higher resolution display
- GLONASS support (next to GPS) [not available in wifi-only model]
- The inside of the device has been completely redesigned (iFixit must love this!)
- Improved cameras
- Some sort of a price drop, unknown what exactly. Possibly a $399 iPad 2. iPad 3 starts at $499, but there will be some sort of a price drop for at least one of the iPad models.
- Bluetooth 4.0
- Runs on the successor of the A5 processor
- No separate CDMA and GSM models, world tablet (CDMA + GSM)
- UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); CDMA EV-DO Rev. A (800, 1900 MHz)
- No proximity sensor
- Improved speakers
- Similar, but not exactly the same design

There are also some other things which I can not confirm as of yet. I repeat, the following rumors are UNCONFIRMED and are added for the sake of argument. Only the list above is what I claim the iPad 3 will certainly have.

- LTE support
- No Siri support
- Possibly an iPad 2S next to iPad 3

Now, I'm claiming a lot here and I go into detail as well. I'm claiming a lot and so a lot can go wrong.

Thirteen claims. To beat Digitimes at least eight claims must be correct. And I'm aiming for better.

iPad 3 might start out at 32GB base model for $499

Slight redesign (I think it will still look like the iPad 2)

I plan on selling my iPad 2 just before the iPad 3 release (if the rumours start going the way I want the iPad 3 to be). Honestly, If your predictions come true, I'll be happy. I really just want the retina screen and a Facetime HD camera on the front for video calls.

There's an adaptor for that, but you can't use it as extra storage.

If they put retina display and back it up with reasonable processor and Ram, I am sold.

SD slot in the Apple itself will indeed not happen. I wouldn't say never, but in the near future... no.

LTE no, Apple would put this technology in their most marketable device ( iPhone) first instead of the iPad.

Retina display and improved camera will be the update this year and iPad4 will have LTE and iPhone 4s 8MP camera.

Agreed, the absence isn't a great inconvenience, the addition would be a great feature however. Think adding capacity on the cheap or quick editing and sharing your photos.

They could limit the use of the SD card. Like not being able to play video from SD. Or just keep the current limitations of the camera connection kit. If what you say is they absolute truth they would have never made the camera connection kit in the first place.
