For those that have given iOS 11 a test drive, are there any new iPad features in iOS 11 that are second gen iPad Pro 12.9 exclusives? I'm very happy with my first gen 12.9" pro and from what I can tell iOS 11 functions nearly identically on the two devices. Is this correct?

Only difference is that everything is smoother on the second gen 12.9. Noticeable lag on first gen when directly compared (although this might still be refined by release).

I can pretty much gaurentee the first gen 12.9 will be smooth as butter upon final release. As for difference between the first and second gen, well 120hz really, but honestly I would say even the 1st gen Pro isn't going to be fully utilized in iOS 11. I believe it wont be until iOS 12 until both iPad Pro's will begin to show their real potential.

I wouldn't be so sure about it, though I really hope this is how it's gonna be.. right now It feels really stuttery and slow compared to the 10.5..

Dude its beta 1 things are buggy let alone broken, I would bet money the final release is going to be buttery smooth. In fact Ive seeen videos of beta 1 running very smoothly on a Air 2 let alone a Pro, so I'm guessing you have some poor unoptimzed apps installed or a setting gone rogue. You can't think iOS 11 will be slow based off the first beta its not a trend setter, now beta 4+ that's when you gotta get concerned.

The only exclusive on the iPad Pro (2017 Edition) is 120Hz refresh rate. The Apple Pencil will feel smoother when compared, but as far as the OS capabilities, they will be equal.

and split screen is active while using a floating third app.

Split screen on first gen becomes blackened and inactive when you pull out a third app.

For the most part. Other than obvious differences like ProMotion or wide color, here are some differences specific to iOS 11 (although these are really minor):

iOS 11 adds flashlight to iPad, like on the iPhone (it's not present on iOS 10 on iPad) - and this is not available on 1st gen 12.9" (no flash)

iOS 11 also adds the quick setting to toggle True Tone on and off which is, naturally, absent from 1st gen 12.9"

All Live Photo iOS 11 features (like choosing key photo) are absent on 1st gen 12.9"

iOS 11 supports HDR video (and possibly games) which is only available on 12.9" 2nd gen and 10.5" iPad Pros

I think that's it. 1st gen iPad Pro will be more than capable of running almost every iOS 11 feature, and with flying colors too.

This is probably just a bug.

I have the options to edit Live Photo’s on 1st gen 12.9... well, loop, long exposure and bounce. Haven’t tried the key image

Edit: tried it and it works

Obvs I can’t take Live Photo’s, these are from my iPhone
