I know the USB camera attachment can be used in conjuxtion with iFile to attach external USB drives. I have been able to attach one of my iPods (a Nano) which allows access to its file system. I have attempted to move/copy a few of my nonDRMed songs to the device but I don't know the file structure of the Nano enough to make it recognize the song.

The directory music should be located in is iPod_Control (I believe) and following in the current structure of the iPhone and iPad I created a new subdirectory /Music then another named /F00. I placed music in both the /Music and /Music/F00 subdirectories but the Nano doesn't recognize them.

Does anyone know what I may be doing wrong??? Thanks!

In order for media to be recognized by the music/video player, it has to be registered in the iTunes database, which can only be done through iTunes.
