Forgive me if this is in the wrong place. Basically I’m looking to buy an old iPad mini 5th gen (that’s all I can afford plus I only want it for YouTube, social media etc.)

And my question is this;

If I get a used one on eBay that is running say iPadOS 13 or 14, if I was to go to update it, will it only let me update straight to IPadOS18, or would iPadOS 17 still be an option etc? (I presume earlier versions of iPad os, 15,16 etc wouldn’t be an option)

Thanks

It depends upon the latest version that Apple supports for that iPad. I am not sure that iPadOS 18 is compatible with 5th generation iPad minis, but it seems likely. If that’s true, then that would be the only choice.
