Just read through this entire CNET article:

A few highlights…
- Pixel Binning has been part of Android Phones for years, Samsung, OnePlus, and XiaoMi phones all do this.’
- iPhone 14 Action Mode (ability to make sure normally shaky videos are smooth if your running and filming a video at the same time) - Samsung Galaxy S20 already has this
- Always-on Display - Samsung Galaxy S22 was the first to do this
- Pill-Shaped Selfie cutout - Samsung phones hide cameras under their displays

So when boiling everything down, the article concludes with what Apple has credit for: Processor is the best, Brightness (2000nits vs 1750 nits), Satellite SOS, TrueDepth front-facing camera for better selfies.

What are your thoughts? Seems like the iPhone 14 Pro is for the most part catching up to Android features and is making me wonder if it is better to not pick up the 14 Pro and just wait for the 15 Pro.

Ok then...
Which smartphone combines those features into a single complete software package that works well enough together and provides the user with a good enough experience? I don't think iOS is at the bottom of this list.

- Pixel binning: it is hard to do pixel binning properly to benefit both good photo quality for low light and high quality for normal light conditions. iPhone 14 Pro hasn't been in the wild long enough yet so time will tell.
- Action mode: no f idea what that means. That marketing term, if anything, is unintuitive to me.
- Always-on display: Samsung Galaxy S22? Released earlier in 2022? I dunno bud. Doesn't sound like Android is taking too much lead here. When enough iPhone is in the wild, we will know which one is better.
- Pill-Shaped Selfie cutout: yes they have camera under displays but I highly doubt the quality is good. MKBHD did a rather recent quick take on one of those cameras and he's not impressed by it.

Catching up is not the issue. The issue is how good your implementation of that feature is. You can skip 14 Pro. But 15 Pro will just provide other features "catching up android". Do you skip 15 Pro? Or 16 Pro? 17 Pro? -_-

When the same company designs the hardware and software, it doesn’t really matter if they’ve been done before if they aren’t done well.
I’ve used Samsung phones off and on over the years and never have I seen them do something better than apple. That’s just my personal experience.
I notice that apple may do things later, but when they do implement, it’s done better.
Especially action mode. I never once got a useable shot with action mode on a Samsung. Never. Even normal photos. The last Samsung I returned was due to never being able to get even a regular picture to come out without any blur. I’ve never had that issue with an iPhone.
Again, when it’s the same company designing the hardware and software, things just turn out better imo. With android there are way too many phone variations and then the same software having to then be made to stretch across all of those different models and different manufacturers. No thanks.

I never depend on a review/youtuber to determine what car to drive or phone to use. Nor do I come on here and ask y'all should I upgrade or not. Apple just makes better products.

3 row suv...Volvo XC90 same design since 2015. Every year they done minor changes to make it better. Until now for 2024 they are rumors of new model. One of the best safest 3 row suv for a family.

Posts like these kind of smell like marketing/astroturfing from competitors.

A feature on a checklist does not necessarily represent implementation of that feature. Some companies, like Samsung, are very quick to add a feature to a checklist before they implement it well. Sometimes they do implement it well. Execution is all that matters.

And second, who cares? If someone is buying an iPhone, why should they care what Samsung is doing? If someone is buying a Samsung, why should they care what iPhone is doing? Unless they're considering switching platforms, it's wholly irrelevant. Does the next version of the phone they are looking for include the features that make it worthwhile to upgrade? Phrased as "I was thinking of getting this new iPhone, but I see that some features existed in some form in some Android phones prior, so I guess I'll hold out on the iPhone purchase"—that's just nutty.
