I’m looking forward to my Paragon arriving. I skipped it last year as you know I was all in ultra slim. This will be my first time trying it. Looking forward to seeing how I like it in comparison to the Sheath. From all the positive feedback about it I am pretty optimistic!
The Paragon is slimmer and more minimal than the Sheath. Slimmer than the Apple Silicone because of the raised top and bottom lips and flush or almost or even slightly raised middle.

Ok so I’ll start by saying I was an avid fan of the Sheath and had one for every phone since the iPhone 7 Plus up until iPhone 15 Pro Max. I had a Synthesis for the first time for the 15PM because I gave up after dealing with the Sheath MagSafe ring fiasco.
Same here. I had a Sheath every year until last year. The old pre-MagSafe versions were so good.

I took a hiatus from Caudabe last year as the Sheath and Synthesis both felt bulkier from the 15 series versions and at that point felt too bulky for my taste. So I went the complete opposite route, got into thinny-thins last year with the 16 PM and was quite impressed leading me to make the switch.
I passed last year due to the cutout and bulk, but did eventually purchase a Paragon once they added the button. I too ended up running the thin Pitaka a good part of the year, along with the Arc pulse which was my #1.

I still do love ultra slim cases (I’ll quit calling them thinny-thins from this point on lol). I absolutely love what Pitaka has done this year with the addition of the CC button on the ultra slims for the Pro versions, they need to get that on board for the Air. I feel like it is now at its best and honestly Pitaka is the only one I’d personally choose for an ultra slim case.
I’m glad to know we haven’t totally lost you to the bulky side. 😉 I’ve had a few issues with fit, but overall Pitaka still seems to be the best in that type of case.

Ok now on to the current phone and Sheath. Caudabe has claimed a 20% decrease I believe in bulk from last year’s version (don’t quote me). I can actually feel the difference from last year’s version which to me felt like the bulkiest the Sheath and Synthesis had ever been.
Interesting! I hadn’t heard that about the decrease in bulk. That’s certainly a move in the right direction.

The weight doesn’t bother me which I thought probably would but it doesn’t, the whole weight issue can be very subjective imo. The case has so many pluses to it that weight alone isn’t a deal breaker for me.
Ironically, having an Air has made me more weight conscious, not less. I believe this is because any difference in case weight is a larger percentage of the total weight, so it’s more noticeable. I can easily detect 5-10 grams of difference on the Air.

So really I think this year’s iPhone design has reverted me back to Sheath because it does everything right aesthetically this year imo with this year’s Pro phones. You saw the photos of the Black precise Sheath with Celestial Blue buttons to match the Deep Blue camera rings in the back. I personally find it very aesthetically pleasing which at the end of the day is what I’m looking for whether it’s ultra slim or the other end of the spectrum with the Sheath.
Yup, that’s a sharp combo. The matching buttons really set it off. Also, having the covered plateau is key in my opinion.

I no doubt would go back to ultra thin but just not this year that’s all. If I had an Air I’d stay the ultra thin route 100% with the gorgeous polished titanium sides, proper colors and thinness of the phone.
Agreed. It’s a pretty phone that seems tailor made for ultra-thin/minimalist cases.

Sorry for the novel of a response!
No worries, thanks so much for the thorough and thoughtful response!

If you get a good copy it’s probably the best all around cases on the market. Not a sexy case although a black precise Sheath with deep blue or silver has sort of a sleek stealthy look.
Sleek and stealthy that’s what I like.
With Decoded my only complaint is the leather, it’s quite anemic if you know what I mean. Feels leather but looks like silicone…
Will update on my Sheath in a couple of days.

Yes certain cases I would prefer open. But with the Sheath and Paragon closed black is stealthy and sleek AF.

Using WIIUKA leather case makes my hand feel tired quickly. Also, my pinky hurts a little because of the ridge that comes with open-bottom design

Probably, dbrand Grip spoiled me, makes every other case feel slippery and hard to hold…

Going to use it for a few days more and decide whether to return it and wait for closed bottom version.
The ridge is very soft and smooth on my Wiiuka case. I find it more comfortable than the Grip somehow. 😅 But yeah, obviously not as grippy. Still, feels protective for a leather case.

While we‘re on the topic of leather cases, I managed to wrangle the Grip off my phone (holding the display in my hand did the trick) and slapped on the Nomad Traditional for the first time and I have to say, that is one flawless leather case. Beautiful craftsmanship.
I’m not sure I want to keep it though as it counts as minimalist in my book and will probably offer no protection in case of a drop.

Anyone heard about this case? I just found it on Reddit, supposedly some Youtuber started a case company and has a couple color variants for each model.. Tekmomo case
Some leather case manufacturers make cases with exposed bottom, some don’t have models for base iPhone 17, some don’t ship to my country.. And I’m checking out what might be a good case to get instead of Sheath so I can switch from Paragon from time to time..
