iPod touch iPhone 2.2 software installation??

When I connect my touch to mac/itunes, it says update to the latest iphone 2.2 software for $9.99.

Do I have to pay and install this update to download apps from the app store to my touch? I have not downloaded any apps so far but has synced musci and photos to my touch!!

If you did not get the 2.0 Upgrade then yes you have to pay. Everybody and I have paid thr $10 for the upgrade and trust me you don't want to think about not paying- it's definitely worth it.

Here is a question: Do the new iPod Touches come with the latest upgrade or no?
