iPhone 4 got thrown in the wash (it was a little smelly) but i grabbed it within 5 minutes. This happened the other day, and i let it dry out a few days and last night it turned on but my screen is trashed.

Last night i turned it on and it worked perfectly beside the screen having a few splotches. NOW, the screen is trashed and covered with lines (see photo). I can use the phone, receive calls and it vibrates so everything seems to work fine but now i am just blind and answer a call is about all i can do.

Is this a somewhat cheap fix? What do i need to replace? I can figure out how to install it myself i just do not know what to buy.

    Thanks!

Just bring it to apple and have them fix it. It's not an easy fix and you could make it worse. The phone is probably junk though if it was completely submerged.

I would not even give a moment's thought to trying the repair yourself. You have NO idea what all components were damaged or may yet fail, and Apple will swap it out for $149.

That is interesting, do you think they will swap it out for 150 even with the water damage? Its black friday and i dont want to have to wait in a really long line if it is just a possibility.. :(

But if they will definitely do it I wouldnt mind.
    Thanks

Set up an appointment at the genius bar and you'll have a minimal wait.

It'll either be 150 or 200 if you bring to apple.

Got a replacement tonight, $149 plus tax for a brand new 4. Thanks guys.

On a side note, i was jailbroken and really sad to lose my jailbreak. I got my replacement and first thing i noticed it was not updated to iOS 5 and i had a mini heart attack hoping i could jailbreak when i got home. Then i looked and im on 4.3.5 ... :(
Oh well at least i can finally update to iOS 5 and play with it now
