Finished comparing my new iPhone 5 black 32GB vs. my iPad 3 on speedtest app using my home wifi rated up to 25mbps down and after 15 consecutive tests, my IPad 3 hands down has the faster download speeds by at least 8mbps difference. My iPad was averaging 19mbps down while the iPhone 5 only 8.5 Mbps down.

Must be very disappointing for Apple!!

Mine tests faster on my iPad but I honestly don't notice a difference in practice.

Funny! Then my phone must the exception. I'm definitely having wifi issues on my phone 5. I'll keep trying and testing the phone vs the iPad 3 and hopefully I can get the same results.

I just ran a test.

Test 1: 41ms ping, 14.47 Mbps Download, and 1.06 Mbps Upload.
Test 2: 41ms ping, 14.04 Mbps Download, and 1.06 Mbps Upload.
iPhone 5 -
Test 1: 41ms ping, 4.61 Mbps Download, and 1.07 Mbps Upload.
Test 2: 42ms ping, 7.88 Mbps Download, and 0.97 Mbps Upload.

I ran in the following order: Test 1 iPad, Test 1 iPhone 5, Test 2 iPad, and Test 2 iPhone 5.

Getting on average 2-3 Mbps faster on download compared to my iPad3 and slightly faster uploads.

My Comcast is rated at 25mbs down and 10 up

I did not know about this thread, but I noticed from day 1 of getting the iphone 5 (got it on release day #1) that my wife's iPad 3 was faster on wifi...according to a speednet test. I've since tested this many times with us both connected to the same SSID. The iPad is always faster.

So I searched around and came across this thread. Boo on the iPhone 5. Makes no sense.
