Im thinking about going to the South Hills store on the 20th. Im thinking about getting my first iphone. Im still deciding on best buy (i like the insurance from there) vs the ATT at the mall in Robinson vs apple store. How are the crowds at south hills apple store.

I went for the 5 last year, arrived 2 hours before the mall opened and was ~20th in line. As soon as the line forms at the Apple Store, they start at the front and ask what device you want (color, size) and then hand you a corresponding card. If you're in the back of the line they may run out of the card you want by the time they get to you. There was probably 100-150 in line when I went I'm guessing.

Thats not to bad to go just 2 hours early and be 20th in line. Now all i need to do is decide where to go. lol

I expect online sales of the 5s to start at 3am EST (midnight in Cupertino). If at that time I can't order with in store pick-up the same day I'm heading to the SHV mall. Not sure if mall security will be chasing people away or not.

Have you gone to SHV for an iPhone launch before?

Ok cool.. I plan on going really early this year since there was no preorder. Where do you usually start waiting/lining up since they don't let you in the mall til a little before opening?

Usually line up near Macy's. Been there for some launches in the past and it's not too bad. What time are people planning on arriving. I'm debating whether to go to south hills or shadyside.

Ya there is a door to the left of Macy's (lower level) that is the where launch lines normally form. I'll be there early. ;)

@Sodner how early are you planning on arriving. I am coming from wheeling and I am not real sure as to what time to head up?

I think I lined up at a door on the opposite side and we were the first in line last year once they let us in

Nevermind, it was at the Macy's entrance. I called and they are doing the same as last year. You can't line up outside the entrance down there until 5am...

They said you could not line up until 5 am outside the door?

That's what mall security said... They also said no chairs, tents, etc.

Last year I think we all just waited in our cars until 5 then all got in line...

Just saw Shady Side on KDKA. The line looked pretty big so there are definitely some disappointed customers.

I went to the AT&T store in the robinson mall. Got their around 715 this am and left around 815 with a new phone. I was about 9th in line. The store seemed to think they would have plenty of stock for most of the day

I was surprised at how easy it went there. Even the staff was shocked that there were so few people. I'm guessing maybe 30 total when I left at around 815

Has anyone casually walked into any Pgh apple stores this week? Any stock? Got a gold on processing and would like to see if it's possible to snag one around.
