I haven't seen a thread yet, so here we go.

Who is going to the iPhone 5S / 5C Highcross, Leicester launch and what time is everybody going down?

Does anyone know if Highcross will be opening the doors earlier than the usual 09:30am?

I'm presuming they'll be opening the doors opposite John Lewis at least if Apple are supposed to be opening at 8am for the launch?

I am hoping to get down at 4am. Don't think the queues should be that bad. I presume that they will let people in before 8:00 ready for the cheers when the apple store doors open.

I called the store and they said that they will likely let people in the centre at 7AM, ready for the 8AM opening time. If you're planning on arriving before that time they also said you should queue at the entrance by John Lewis and Next and they'll keep an eye out and look after people who might be camping out overnight, etc.

    Hope that helps!

Apparently, my good friend who works at Highcross (Leicester) said ALL iPhone 5S models sold out in 37 minutes this morning.

I had the misfortune of going to this. I arrived at 01:30AM. They finally let us in about 06:30 and the amount of ignorant people who pushed in near the front and got away with it was ridiculous, it was so badly managed. Was about 150th in line and after they took orders from, no joke, no more than about 30 people they were going round saying "All iPhone 5s models are gone, but we have plenty of 5c's"

Queued for hours and have literally nothing to show for it except a £5 parking fee. The staff didn't even have a rough idea on stock and they don't even know if the iPhone can be reserved for pick up in the not too distant future, simply said "Keep popping in and trying"...

I cannot believe the absolute palava Apple made today. Although they cannot be blamed for the resellers and their loyalist buyers. Apple should have drawn the line and thought outside of policy. They clearly knew who the resellers were, and they could easily have tackled this having taken into consideration their stock levels. I was there since 11pm on Thursday! And did not get my iPhone 5S.

Apple did not even bother apologising for being out of stock. They also could have made people aware way before 7am, so we all did not have to freeze our behinds over a false hope launch. Instead all Apple did was string people along to make it look like a highly successful launch, but it wasn't. Another thing that is annoying is the standard answer "I'm not aware of the stock issue etc" - rubbish, because they clearly knew. The allocation cards would have been assorted by the inventory specialists earlier in morning. The minute people found out the iPhone 5S's were out of stock nearly 200 people did a u-turn and the queue that had built up over 8-9 hours dispersed within minutes.

To sum up this launch - It was an ABSOLUTE FAIL!!!!!

P.S - Now Apple will turn their inability to churn out iPhones at a reasonable pace into "incredible demand" when really demand was fine and supply was the issue! Considering Tim Cook was the supply and logistics man at Apple before becoming CEO, you would think he would have this in the bag!

Utterly disappointed. I will probably try next weekend.

From the looks of it, the Highcross store may have had very little stock and the staff were either clueless or decided to "double down". It said that staff came around early saying there should be enough iPhones for everyone (not saying the iPhone 5s were low) and managed to film the string of people they streamlined in twos before telling everyone they run out of iPhone 5s about 30 minutes after they opened shop.

It's funny how they didn't film everyone after telling them about the low stock lol.

Seriously though, it was managed terribly this year.
