The camping begins here in Arlington, VA. I am happy to announce that I am the first person in line for the second year in a row. I was also second in line three years ago - damn Iggy!

People keep driving and stopping by to ask me when they should arrive to ensure they have a shot at getting a 6 Plus. Who knows what excitement the new 6 and 6 Plus will generate this year? If pre-order sales are any indication, get here early!

What I can tell you is that last year I arrived at 11:00AM on Thursday and the next person did not arrive until approximately 4:00 PM. It will be interesting to see when the masses will appear.

I just received confirmation that the iPhone 6 and the 6 Plus is being delivered at this very moment here at the Arlington store. Apple employees are remaining very tight lipped about quantities and models. It is still early though; let's see if I can get them talking a little tomorrow.

That's it for now. I hope to see you guys soon. Please let me know if you have any questions. I will be updating this thread periodically.

I am curious about your experience, though. Where do you sleep, go to the bathroom, eat? Also, to the police give you a hard time?

You must be camped outside the Clarendon store... The malls seem like such a better choice considering you don't have to 'camp'!

How is the line looking there? And more importantly, have you schmoozed with the staff enough yet to get any indication of stock?

I've been calling everywhere seeing if anyone will have the iPhone 6 Plus. Most stores say they will not. Only Best Buy has said they do have a few but don't know the carriers. Obviously the best bet to get a Plus is the Apple store, however if it's anything like the other iPhone events you need to be waiting in line at 3am.

Also, reports indicate there will be very low Plus inventory...this worries me greatly. I was going to wait at the Pentagon City Apple Store since it's the easiest for me to get to. But, I know it will be very crowded and that mall doesn't do the best job of security and making sure everyone stays in line.

The Clarendon Apple Store allows people lined up to use their restroom. Lining up here is better than the mall stores because there is only one entrance and you can start lining up anytime you like.

The store in Clarendon is located on private property. The cops cannot and do not hassle you. The only difficulty could come from the property management corporation but Apple managers put that in check right away.

I have it on good authority that there will be a decent supply of 6 Plus units. However, there are about 25 people in line currently, and the number is growing fast, so if you want one, GET HERE NOW!

    What else can I answer?

Have they given any info on when they will hand out the reservations? Electronic ones this year correct?

I was driving home from work earlier and saw someone laying down in the bed of their truck right outside the store. That's an idea! I'm guessing they had a chair in line somewhere though.

The person lying down in the bed of his black Tundra is me.

Yes they are doing electronic tickets this year. They told me they are starting at about 7:15 AM.

My chair is the first one in line. By the way I am selling the second spot in line. Make me an offer.

I was there today...didn't realize a macrumors person was first! If I wasn't getting my 6+ delivered tomorrow I would be there waiting. Would have paid up for that 2nd spot!

The cool thing is if you pay for the second spot you do not even have to wait in line all night. Just show up by 6:45 AM.

...selling the 2nd spot? Really? That sounds totally fair to everyone else who's camped out. #sarcasm

I'm about 10 people back in the line outside Pentagon City's 2nd level entrance, and the line has doubled since I arrived at 3a. Multiple people confirmed with mall security that those in line will be escorted inside at 5a.

You are allowed to hold one spot for a significant other, friend, relative, etc... It is a commonly known practice and several line mates directly behind me have sold their second spot for only slightly less than what I am asking.

My significant other is not coming and I have been here since Wednesday evening at 8:00 PM. It doesn't seem entirely unfair to me.

We had such a fun crowd last night! Much more civilized than any Tyson's/Fair Oaks/Reston launch I've ever gone to. I was fourth in line, we had really fun, nice, interesting people to talk to, everybody was allowed to go to the bathroom, get something to eat, etc and the line didn't lose their cool.
Exception being this crazy 70 year old woman who thought she had two spots to sell given you had two phones. She was just in it for the money. If anything changes next time, maybe we need to cut back on the spot selling a bit. In any case, she provided a hell of a lot of entertainment for the night.
Shout out to the rest of the front of the line group. See you for the iPad launch next month, hopefully!

Your logic is flawed, bud. You are just like the scalpers.

Whether you agree with my logic or not, it is a very common practice. One that has been employed by many near the front of the line not only this year, but for the last 2 years that I have been first and second in line at Clarendon and the three years prior at Tyson's Corner.

I was a recent, former Apple employee and have had discussions with several managers at various stores who have said that a person in line can technically hold a spot for family member, significant other, or friend. They also acknowledged that people do sell this second spot and there is not much that can be done to prevent this. My first hand experience has proven this to be true.

P.S. I did not sell a spot this year.

There is, indeed, a way to stop it. When the queue starts to form, every hour or so give out numbers / tickets that are in sequence. Whoever doesn't have a number cannot buy anything.

There are some assumptions of course, the largest being that you can't make a fake one. But it will go a long way in preventing the line being artificially extended just before opening time.

Of course if you sell your own spot you can't really stop that unless you use Touch ID or something, but that's pretty extreme and frankly your own spot should be yours to do whatever you wish with it...
