That time of year again! Anyone planning on getting a phone here this Friday?

I spoke with Apple, there will be one line until a specialist comes out around 6AM to separate pickup/reservation from those that don't have a reservation.

The line will be in the entrance across from the Apple store and above the Chipotle.

Good luck to all venturing out early Friday morning to get new :apple: phones!

I'm actually thinking about hitting Danbury over Stamford location. I have a feeling it's going to be a goat rodeo in Stamford. I see you are an annual early line person - what time does the line start to form before the 6a specialist arrives?

Last year the line started shortly after midnight. There weren't that many people there by 4am though. I have to imagine it will be as busy, if not busier this year.

I think you are right, Danbury is a bit calmer than the Stamford or White Plains stores.

I work until midnight, so I am debating on heading right up to DFM. I'm in pursuit of a 6 plus. What time are you planning on heading there?

I reserved an IP6 for pickup, so I'm probably not getting there before 4am.

My sense is that the 6+ will be very tough to get, and that each store will have very few available for walk-in sales (similar to last years gold 5s). So, the earlier you can get there the better.

Apple specialists will start "working" the line way before 8am, making sure that customers are able to login to their Apple/icloud accounts, are eligible for upgrades, AND will discuss specific phones available. So you won't have to wait until after 8am to know if you will be able to get the phone you want.

    waiting line

So if I'm understanding correctly the line will begin outside of the mall overnight or whenever people get there and will then be moved inside in the am??

This is based on last year (which had improved upon the prior years), and will likely be similar this year.

Anyone waiting outside the mall will be directed to the one location (outside the Apple store, and above Chipotle). Last year the line started around midnight, and grew steadily after 4am. Mall security stopped by occasionally, and some Apple employees were there as early as 3AM.

The mall should open at 6AM, and people on line will be escorted to waiting line(s) outside the Apple store. So no mad rush from multiple mall entrances!

    Hope this helps!

Anyone getting on line early please let us know how many people are there when you get there.

    Wow, people on line already??

Anyone there to verify? I'm picking up a pre-ordered phone and was going to get there around 4:00 am.

The security tween is going around telling ppl to leave. How can they do this now when they don't on Black Friday or any other year?

I'm now here, there must be at least 200 people already on line. I'm at the end of the line, but there seems to be a large Asian mule contingent.

They have now let everyone inside. The line is dominated by mules, might be as high as 75%.

Hopefully the mule contingent will disperse once word gets out how few 6 Plus phones will be available for sale.

If you have a reservation to pick up a preordered phone, you can bypass the line, go right to the Apple Store. There are less than 10 people on the reservation line right now.

Seems like it was a bit of a mess here overnight. People started lining up at midnight, but were asked to leave by security. You were not able to wait in your car, and asked people to drive off the mail property. Customers were asked to come back at 5am.

The line started forming after 4am, but before 5am (somewhat fuzzy on this), but of course those people that got there at midnight were not able to preserve their original spots.

Not sure what necessitated this change, as there were no problems with the line last year.

Similar to other stores, lots of mules/scalpers buying phones with cash.

    Good luck to all!!

Hey I agree with you; this year was a mess. I would have lined up at around midnight if they had let us.

They started kicking people off the premises as soon as the mall closed - 10pm

After that they told us we would not be able to come back to the property until 5 am. This makes no sense because it means they are just asking for a whole bunch of people to stampede as fast as they can into the line at exactly 5am.

We ended up camping at ATT which was a mistake since they had ZERO Iphone 6 plus's. ATT didn't even open until 8am and there was about 20+ people in line. We were the first 10.

I wish they could have let us know ahead of time that they wouldn't be getting in any. Even Radioshack in the mall got 1 iphone plus.

By 10am we were heading home, but called up one more place... they actually had just gotten 5 iphone plus's in that were 16gb storage. Turned out well.

So would I camp out again? NO. The only way I would camp out again is if Danbury Fair Mall allowed a line. I believe they created more chaos by deterring people away.
