I know 3 people that returned theirs. I don't see who the market is for this. If they'd make a slightly thicker phone with a bigger battery, it'd sell far better than this. If they could do a full 2-day battery, I'd be first in line to get it.

They do. it's the 17 regular. It's got an additional camera and $100 cheaper to boot.

Samsung's s25 Edge is a better 'thin' phone hardware wise than the air. No denying that. Samsung beat Apple here. And even that failed for Samsung too. For iPhone iOS lovers though, the air just didn't deliver enough to warrant its existance. The lesser battery, single camera, lack of Stereo speakers being the biggest issues. Especially with how decent the regular 17 actually is now.

Hardware wise, the edge is an impressive device; it's 0.2mm thicker but features a second camera, stereo speakers, and a 20% larger battery. Three common points that the Air gets panned for.

If apple matched the edge in hardware, even if it was 0.2mm thicker than it is now I think it'd have sold much much better; most likely cannibalising the base 17

S25 Edge is fully featured with a dual SIM tray and mmWave antenna.

The poor sales of Edge suggest the same outcome for Air 2 - even if it got everything, customers will still ask, "Why should I pay more for Air?" Thinness as a feature is simply not in demand. The Edge didn't cannibalize anything else in the S25 lineup. It just wasn't desirable.

Maybe Apple will finally get the message that "thin" is not really a big selling point for the vast majority of people.

None of those features are as good as the air though on the Samsung.. maybe the sim tray, but in not sure that matters. People just don’t get it, and that is fine. It is much more about the weight difference than the thinness. I don’t even really care about the thinness, the weight is night and day though. That is what matters to me and why I love my air.

It depends on what you compare it to i guess.

Compared to the S25 plus, which is it's closest competitor; the edge is $100 more expensive, lacks a telephoto, and has a 20% smaller battery. So it has the same "we're paying more money for less stuff" stigma.

It also launched a few months after the regular S25/S25 plus/S25 ultra, which does it no favours.

In contrast when comparing to the air; the edge is far closer to the regular 17 in featureset from a hardware perspective. If the edge had an apple logo and ran iOS; it'd have knocked it out of the park; even for that extra $100, i'm pretty sure of that.

If weight is the concern, the edge is 2gr lighter than the air.
At the end of the day, one is an iphone and one is a galaxy.
People have chosen their sides so it's pointless comparing full phones to eachother.

But from purely a hardware perspective it's hard to deny that samsung did the better job jamming in a lot more without being overly thicker.

This is a bean counter release of a device. The stepping stone that was too expensive but didn't have enough base features.

Its battery wasn't even strong enough to have you enjoy the device....but it allowed the binned chips to be put to use...at the cost of their image.
You get it. This is Timmy making a Frankenstein device to get his cost recovery down on parts bin components. It's a device that stands for nothing and the market is showing they see that.

That is what I’m denying though, it might not matter, but the one speaker sounds better and is more full sounding, the one camera is more vibrant and detailed, etc. spec wise the Galaxy is better but in real world testing the air is better at almost all of that.

I meant the weight compared to regular phones, not compared to the edge. I mean the main draw is the weight difference of thin phones to thick phones.. the difference is enormous but not really apparent until you actually live with both.

If we end up finding out this sold worse than the Mini's ... whooo baby ...
😂

(I'm a Mini user and lover)
Call me surprised. Thinness alone won’t sell a phone? Are you kidding me? Fr? 🤫🫢🫥

Yet another form over function failure. Apple has tried, as hard as they feel acceptable. Shame they refuse to release sales data of each model otherwise it would be an interesting read.

The thin, light iPhone Air sold so poorly that Apple has decided to delay the launch of the next-generation iPhone Air that was scheduled to come out alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, reports The Information.

Apple initially planned to release a new iPhone Air in fall 2026, but now that's not going to happen.

Since the iPhone Air launched in September, there have been reports of poor sales and manufacturing cuts. Apple's supply chain has scaled back shipments and production. Apple supplier Foxconn has reportedly dismantled all but one and a half of its production lines for the iPhone Air, and all production is expected to be stopped at the end of the month. Luxshare, another supplier, stopped production at the end of October.

Apple was counting on the novel look of the device to spark interest, because it features the first substantial design update that we've seen to the iPhone lineup since the iPhone X added Face ID and an all-display design in 2017. Creating a super thin 5.6mm iPhone required compromises, so the iPhone Air has a smaller battery and a single-lens rear camera, but it still has a high price tag. Apple priced it starting at $999, and that appears to be more than customers are willing to pay for style without substance. The iPhone Air is only $100 cheaper than the $1,099 iPhone 17 Pro, which has a triple-lens rear camera and much better battery life.

Apple has not been able to land on a fourth iPhone that will sell well alongside the standard iPhone and Pro iPhone models. Apple experimented with a smaller 5.4-inch iPhone mini that suffered from disappointing sales, then moved on to the larger "Plus" iPhone that served as a more affordable version of the Pro Max. Plus models also failed, leading to the iPhone Air.

Apple has already been planning for a split launch for the iPhone starting with the iPhone 18 models. The iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and foldable iPhone are planned for fall 2026, while the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e will be held until early 2027. It's possible that the next-generation iPhone Air will come out alongside the iPhone 18 in the spring.

Apple has been working on a second-generation version of the iPhone Air with a lighter weight, vapor chamber cooling, and a larger battery capacity, but Apple could rethink the design.

Higher price for the worse specs (compared to Plus models) I doubt that people would pay more for such things. Not only lack an ultra wide camera, iPhone Air doesn't even have dual speakers, which is soo ridiculous!

Gotta give credit where credit is due - this is great engagement bait!

Half the features? It's missing 2 cameras and a speaker. Does the pro only have 6 total features? Be real.

Sh##, I bought the engagement bait.
2 cameras, vapor chamber, dual speaker, USB 3,thats definitely over half the sell points on the Pro
