Many operators are introducing HD Voice in their networks, recently T-Mobile in Germany. HD Voice is basically using a different codec (AMR-WB) and offers voice quality comparable to FM Radio without using more bandwidth. I was able to try it out using two Nexus S handsets and it is amazing. Unfortunately, unlike most Android phones, the iPhone does not support AMR-WB. Does anybody know if Apple is planning to include it in a software update? All it is is support for another codec. Or will it be sold as a magical and brandnew never heard before feature of the iphone 5?
