My iPhone 4 on Verizon has been acting up lately. I've had it since Feb and never had a problem with it until now. It will randomly lose signal and the bars drop from 5 instantly to none. 3G goes away as well. This lasts for about 10 sec before acquiring the signal again. It happens at random so I don't think anything triggers it. It wouldn't bother me if it didn't happen when I'm not using the phone but it has caused pandora, etc to stop streaming music and safari or FB to not load. Anyone have this problem? Any suggestions?

It's Apples trade secret & a way to get you to buy an iPhone 4S.

The latest model does not have this problem.

See how easy that is. :)

A search will show up threads on death grip on the iPhone 4 which causes the signal to suffer if your finger bridges the antenna break on the bottom left hand side of the phone.

Personally I use an original apple bumper which increases grip and eradicates the death grip.

I'm on the latest software and have not found this to affect my signal.

You could perform a clean restore to see if that helps and also speak to your network to ensure they are not performing any work in your area.

Perhaps arranging an appointment with an apple genius may be necessary too.

Good luck.

I'm on iOS 5.0. It isn't the death grip issue because it loses signal when it's just sitting on a table. Thanks for the responses. I am trying a restore but then it will install the latest software (5.0.1) so maybe that will help.

I had the same issue with my iPhone 4 after updating to iOS 5. It would usually happen in the evenings though.

I have a 4S on 5.01 and it still happens although not as often as the 4.
