Hey all, have any of you experienced your iPhone randomly waking up and asking for your face or passcode? This happens to me a few time a day at random times - even when my phone is sitting flat on the table and no faces are around. It's really strange and has been happening for the past few months. I have an iPhone XS Max, 64GB, iOS 13.2. I tried searching the forums for similar issues but couldn't find any. Any help would be appreciated!

I’m having the same issue on the most recent beta. I’m trying to figure out what is asking for random Face ID. Only thing I can think of is Skype for business, do you happen to use Skype for business? Hoping it’s not a hard ware issue

My guess is it’s receiving a wireless signal that makes it do that? Can you clear out any Bluetooth or WiFi networks your phone has remembered? Maybe take them all out one day and see if your phone still does it?

Seems weird an app on the phone would randomly wake the phone up.

You guys don’t happen to be in office environments where that are a lot of wireless devices?

I see why you’re thinking Skype for Business though. Like maybe someone is calling you on Skype and that wakes the phone up?

Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s just another bug in iOS 13 and you won’t be able to find it. Anytime I’ve talked to Apple and there’s been a bug they can’t walk through fixing, they have you take logs off the device and send it to them. Maybe call them and ask them if it would be helpful if you took a log the next time your phone did that? If you’re really interested in getting it fixed, tell them you’ll take a log the next five times it happens. They won’t compensate you for your trouble though. Apple just assumes we’re okay paying high prices for their products and then being their beta testers.
