Does anyone know if this has anything to do with the heat of the display? I just came in from being out in the cold and the pink edge was gone but now that I’ve been surfing the forums it seems to be slowly coming back.

Is anyone else noticing their pink edges following a similar pattern of appearance?

I’m not sure if heat has anything to do with this since the hue doesn’t grow or shrink. It’s just... there. According to a really old article on iPhone 5’s pink hue issue, it seems(my own assumption from the microscopic shots of the pixels of the display) that on a microscopic level, the pixels with the hue seems like they are not laminated properly to the surface if the glass in comparison to the normal coloured pixels.

So maybe somehow the display is not uniform in hue because the display was either not perfectly laminated from edge to edge or it bends slightly on the sides that the hue is present. Just a theory, I’m no scientist though.

its the truetone thing

Yeah mine is doing the same thing but it is a green color and its in the bottom right

My iPhone X have similar problem. Small part of right side has a slight red tint. Because of this, in dark, the gray elements of interface appear darker on the right.
Before that, i used iPhone 8 and it also had a problem with the screen - uneven illumination.
Also used OnePlus 3T, Lumia 920 and Lumia 930 - and these phones also had a problem with display (colours/illumination).

This is a global problem with OLED and IPS.
Very distressing, hope that someday phones will not have such problems.

Mine’s the same, but on the left. It didn’t bother me until I was watching Bright on Netflix last night in a very dark room, in landscape orientation - ie, the left side of the screen became the bottom.

At about 29 mins in, there’s a shot with an elf guy in a dark room, with a wall behind him. All detail was completely lost in the ‘pink’ bottom area of the screen - it just looked black, even at full brightness. Flipping the phone over swapped the afflicted area from the bottom of the image to top, revealing all the missing light and detail at the bottom, and proving that it was definitely the screen at fault. Absolutely terrible. Now thinking of swapping...

Oh, mine totally shows the edge on the Clock app, etc, but not at all on solid black – I've been aware of that since about day one.

Holy cats. I didn’t even realize when it happened, but I just realized somewhere in the last few days the pink edges went away. :) This thread reminded me to look. I’d been very sick the past week and a half and just not really checking up on the pink stain. I was just playing some Animal Crossing and checking my emails on the phone.

I did try to read ebooks but the display flicker bothers my eyes enough that I preferred to go back and read on my 7 Plus.

But at least the annoying pink is gone in both modes: True Tone on and True Tone Off.

Of course I’ll need to check under other ambient light conditions but I do think I’d be seeing it now if it were still there.

Anybody else see their pink blotches go away?

Edit update: lol, never mind. In daylight ambient room lighting the pink is still very faintly there. But it’s not gotten worse so I’m leaving well enough alone.

So, after much umming and ahing, I took my X back to the Apple Store and described the above issue. They confirmed that there was a problem simply based on the pink tint when viewed in regular light, and said they’d replace the screen.

Two worrying hours later (everything else about the phone is perfect, so I was dreading any number of potential collateral f**k-ups), I was handed what feels kinda like a new phone. No pink tint at all, blue shift when tilted rather than pink then blue, and a much more uniform vibe overall. Perhaps a slight brightness gradient from bottom to top, but only barely noticeable with True Tone and Night Shift on and unnoticeable without. Most importantly, that top-to-bottom slice of pink murkiness down the left hand side in the Clock app, Netflix, Apollo, etc, is nowhere to be seen.

So, I guess, based on my own experience, I’d now tentatively suggest that the localised pink tint could be considered ‘abnormal’.

i dont have the same issue with you mate but my screen gets dimmer and faded in low brightness which is very annoying cause you can not see clearly dark images. When I went to an apple store they told me that every iphone screen is different if you compare it with another. No matter what, the quality of the screen is far more less than the expectations you have after paying 1000pounds for a phone.

Yes the nits is low the iPhone X with my brother is more nits my iPhone is una mierda
