I bought a secondhand iPhone x (Space Gray), first i didn't notice that the stainless steel got rainbow color like blue, yellowish, rust, but when your'e at indoor its not noticeable, but when i go outside it really exposed the rainbow colors on the stainless band side to side and on the bottom of grills too only slight at bottom. Is this normal?. or there's a way to remove the stain on steel band. The phone age is already 1 year and 8 months. Everything is okay not really hot when using except when your taking picture outside for too long. Should i worried? Sorry i cant take an actual picture now.

I have a bad “burn” spot/stain on the bottom of my gold iPhone XS. The cape cod cloth gets rid of it... for a week. Then it slowly returns. I’ve given up trying to remove it and accepted that it’s just the quality of the metal.

rumors have it that rainbows are returning to  products so count yourself in as an early adopter
what do you mean by " count myself as in early adopter" u mean just deal with it? and nothing can do? and its too late i guess to return since i bought this as secondhand.

This has been reported many times. Use a Cape Cod polishing cloth and it will eliminate it.

i see, what's the cause of being changing colors of the iPhone x stainless bands? and it is OK to leave like this forever? instead buying that cape cod polishing?. I'll just use a case instead

Why are you recommending to polish the space gray steel when it will remove the space gray coating?

-At least that's people say. That the coating is so thin, that it will get removed and you will end up with a silver stainless steel, instead of space gray. I actually hope this is not true so I can polish mine and remove the scratches without removing the gray coating.

Missed the SG, thanks for bringing it up. NO, I would not polish it out.

Wish the OP would post some images so we can see this on space grey.

I’m actually wondering if there’s an issue with the PVD coating on the stainless bands, if it somehow of having a reaction with your sweat or something else. There really isn’t much you can do, it’s just more affecting the stainless. As someone else said, you can’t use any type of cleaning product, it _could_ potentially make the problem worse.
