Just had a scary moment when I just tapped my screen display to check for any messages on my iPhone and the screen did not display. So I plugged in my charger and of course, the battery was like at 2%. But even then right after I plugged in the charger to charge the battery, the phone did not react to anything, not even holding the power button to turn off the phone. I just saw the battery icon with the red markings on it and that was about it.

But, after a few minutes, the phone powered ON again.

Is there any tips or advise on what to do to recover the phone after a full battery drainage?

This is normal behaviour. The phone waits until the battery has enough charge before booting to prevent a deep discharge of the battery, because that would render the battery useless.

So next time when this happens, should I just insert the charger and let it charge or will I also need to power ON the phone as well by long pressing on the power button?

In other words, once the phone detects that it has enough juice to power ON, will it power ON automatically or will I have to press and hold the power button until I see the Apple logo?

The typical behavior is that the phone will turn on on its own once the battery got a bit of a charge.
