i was wondering if anyone would suggest getting the 40Gb ipod over the 20Gb, i figured it out and the 40Gb will hold about 10,080 4:00 minute songs, the 20Gb, half that. Is it worth it to just be safe and pay the extra $100??

Only if you're getting close to more than 20GB music and you don't want to be bothered by limiting what's on your ipod through playlists or smart playlists, etc. It's so much music eitehr way, that you're going to run out of juice long before you run out of songs.

I have the 20 GB and find it plenty big for my everyday needs. I have about 2,800 songs which take up around 13 GB total. This leaves plenty of room for other file storage and backup. Also, take into consideration that the 40 GB is thicker than the 15 and 20 GB models. It may not seem like a big difference, but it could be when you're carrying it around in your pocket all day. Hope this helps. :)

I agree with the other replies. I recently opted for the 20 gb over the 40 because 40 GB seems excessive. I'd just make sure you have enough capacity for all of your music. That's the whole point of the iPod! The choice depends completely on your collection of music!

i can see only 3 reasons for getting the 40 GB instead of the 20 GB

1) you have more than 20 GB of music (or soon will)

2) you have less than 20 GB of music but want to store a lot of data

3) you are interested in audio quality and compress your music at a higher rate (thus creating larger files and better sound quailty)

if none of those fit you, then get the 20 GB and send me the extra cash so i can get a new iPod myself!! (i have a 1st gen 10GB and am running out of room on my iPod)
