This may seem like a dumb question to some but i dont know and its kinda the deciding factor for me for my next purchase.

Since Leopard's Time Machine requires an external HDD to work. Could i use the extra space on my possibly future 80GB ipod classic to be that external HDD.
 
You might be able to do that by "enabling disk mode" but I don't think you can use some for music some for data... it has to be all or nothing. (correct my if i'm wrong)
 
Yes you can. I do it all the time with my 30GD 5G ipod. You enable disk mode and it mounts as an external hard drive.
