iPod mini 'unobtainable'

    in a one horse, two house, three pub town.
    There seemed to be a dichotomy on the link whereby the story said that demand will outstrip supply, whereas their left-of screen poll is producing a result of half the people polled are perfectly happy with their current model and won't be bothering with a purchase.

    Well, it interested me anyway....

    I would agree with the point that the iPod's scarcity is enhancing it's mystique. THey make a very good point by saying "you have identified it and coveted it and want it, but no one seems to have it." I think that is a major key in it's popularity, *however* I *do not* feel that this is a marketing strategy on Apple's part. If the market was ripe to sell your product, any reasonable business would sell thier product. Apple continues to advertise so the general population doesn't grow tired of waiting and move on to something "cooler". So I feel that the shortage of Mini's is actually due to the inhibitions in the manufacturing processes. If it's intentional, Apple is missing out on a lot of revenue.
