I currently have a first-gen iPod nano, and I would like to use this program Apple has to have the battery replaced. I understand you receive a new (refurbished) iPod? Does anyone have any experience with this method? Also, since the first-gen is so old (at least in Apple time), would they be sending me a newer generation of the nano (current gen perhaps :)) as a replacement?

They'll send you the same model.
