Ive just purchased a touch, after reading the manual and / or looking online. I cant find anything that tells me if I need to give the touch a good 8 hr initial charge before use or not.

Normally with portable devices like mobile phones this is the case, gives the battery a good start in life... is this the case with touch?

Many Thanks

With the modern Lithium Ion battery, there's no real need anymore to drain then charge and have no memory effect. Just use the battery in a normal manner, don't overcharge it and you'll be fine.

So in short - no.

How much is considered overcharging it?

I should re-word it...

By 'overcharging' I meant along the lines of constantly charging it all the time, or constantly plugged in all the time.

Shouldn't be an issue anyway for a device people carry around with them, meaning a lot of the time it is unplugged and happily being used. It's more a problem for laptop users at home, who leave their laptop plugged in all the time with the battery always charged.

That does damage the battery, as it is meant to be used ;)
