iPod touch Ipod Touch Unable to Restore - Helpp =(

Ok, I have a 16Gb iPod Touch I got on 23rd August, everything was working fine untill i went abroad, connected to wifi and did an update. my Ipod lagged then the iTunes Symbol and usb appear when my iTouch is on. I have had this with my iPhone and i was able to restore without any problems..
When I came home I tried to restore, it said Update and Restore, and the Apple logo appears, and the Restore commences, However, when the slider comes to the end, it stays there and doesnt do anything and iTunes says, "Waiting for iPod".. I have waited patiently for 5 hours and still nothing =(

Hold down the lock/home buttons until the ipod turns off.

Yess I have done it still no joy, the iTunes symbol and USB appear. The Restore from iTunes does not work, I waited 5 hours for the restore and nothing happened =(

Then do a DFU Restore like previously mentioned.
