iPod Touch would not boot

I have not used my iPod touch in a while and the other day I decided to charge it up and use. It has version 3 firmware on it which was working perfectly but letting the battery go flat seems to have destroyed the firmware.

The cure was to simply upgrade the firmware to version 3.1.

Has anyone else come across this problem with their iPod Touch?

What consists of "destroy the firmware"? Did it not turn on? Was it in recovery mode?

It just came up with the Appple logo and got stuck even when the device was charged to about 30%. Everytime I switched it on it just got stuck at the Apple Logo.

Was it jailbroken before? Sometime things like that happen. At least a restore easily fixed it.

No, I had not Jailbroken it. It was just weird as I expected it to boot up normally.

Last Night I have Jail Broken my iPod Touch using Blackrain. This as got to be the easiest and quickest way to do it.
