I love(d) my 2017 12.9, but I'm looking to upgrade after my second unit started the screen spotlight/light leakage problem after warranty replacement. I keep my devices ALAP, so wanted to get an M1 12.9 for future proofing. But now that I'm vigilant about screen longevity, I'm weary of the M1 screen banding issues being reported.

Given the price-to-value ratio of the M1, I'm looking at a 2020 12.9 instead. Looking at you, 2018 & 2020 iPP owners, are you still happy after 2+ years on those LED liquid retina screens? Any issues? (I'm only interested in the hardware, not discussing Stage Manager thanks.)

The hardware issues I’ve gotten are just out of the box stuff, like yellow tint to left size of screen and darker corners to right side of screen.

Good to know. I'm not a particularly obsessive type, but maybe a little with gorgeous hardware I hold in my hands and use hours a day - so to scratch an itch - to what extent are you seeing yellow tint and darker corners?

No issues on my fourth gen 12.9. The hardware overall feels a lot better than the older chassis did, and I don't think they're nearly as prone to the touch issues that plagued the 12.9 A10X model.

It’s pretty obvious to me, so much so that a basic dell monitor looks more even, but a lot of people seem not to care

Yeah, I did search the forum and not a lot turned up. I guess no news is good news for 2 full generations of using the same tech. Or is there a trend I did not spot?

Mine is great and I haven’t experienced the aforementioned issue. I have 2 12.9 A12Z 1TB ipad Pros in use and screens are perfect. My only complaint IS when watching horror films (my favorite genre) the dark scenes are washed out with grays and virtually unwatchable. I watch the same scene on my 11 pro max with OLED and it’s clear as day. I can’t justify the M1 iPad Pro 12.9 just yet as these two cost a pretty penny. One for me and the other for my college aged daughter (artist and scientist to be).
