    Brave New World.

Though I could understand why Iceland and Denmark consume a lot of antidepressants. It's those damn arctic circle winters.

Fun fact of the day: Aldous Huxley died on 22 November 1963, hence his passing didn't get nearly as much note as he deserved.

Yeah, it's in the Arctic Circle. So's Scotland, weirdly enough.

Not if you are using any accepted idea of the Artic circle Copenhagen is for instance more than 700 miles from the Artic circle.

Most of Sweden is not.The far north (Lapland) is part Swedish, mostly Norway (and part Finnish)and partly Russian I've been there it's not like the scandi countries. In spite of the huge fences and gun turrets surrounding the old Soviet Union I've been in and out of Russia there are no border controls up there.

If you're ever in Barrow, Alaska (about 350 miles above the Arctic Circle) there is a nice little Mexican joint called "Pepe's North of the Border." Great burritos.

That's too bad. Well, there's always Nanook's famous whale blubber milk shakes.

Whale is without a doubt one of the most disgusting things I've ever eaten.

They've also got the best health plans.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could somehow dope the entire water supply of the middle east with something to counteract their religious 'roid rages?

And maybe get some anti-anxiety meds for the Trump fans over here. :D

Objectively, almost everybody else thinks they have better health plans as well.

I wonder if seasonal affective disorder (SAD) has anything to do with it? I know one ex-pat very well who lives in Sweden, while there I often heard how the winters are dark and grey and it gets to you.

What are you trying to prove? You realize that the United States far outperforms EVERY other nation in gross pharmaceutical consumption. Using numbers from much smaller populated countries that have much more affordable healthcare only weakens whatever distorted stance you're trying to take

I would imagine that 'seasonal affective disorder' and vitamin D deficiency have something to do with antidepressant consumption in Iceland. Not to mention their banks failing. Alternatively, maybe the happiest countries have the best mental health care.

Oh I'd just like to point out that most anti-depressants don't make you happy, they just put a firewall up to prevent the depression thoughts from taking control.

I proved that Europeans take so many antidepressants because they're depressed over the fact they have submitted without a fight to radical Islam.

Since a big component of the "happiness index" is GDP/capita, maybe this is just that people in the happiest countries can afford to be on anti-depressants.
