Hello,

Someone is offering to sell me their 2012 Mac air. I'm considering whether this is a good deal or if I should purchase a much newer (and more expensive) 2018 / 2019 model.

I want to use the mac air mostly for small video editing and photo editing projects and writing university papers. It has the original battery which I'm told lasts 5 - 7 hours or 4 hours if a lot of apps are running.

I'm wondering whether it's a good deal or not. I'm not in America but live between Israel and Australia. If I don't go with this one I would purchase in Australia. If you think $500 is overpriced, what price would you suggest for the model the person is selling?

Thanks for your suggestions.

Seems overpriced if you are in the U.S.. Also you should try to get at least a 2013. Haswell was a big improvement in battery life.

Thanks lixuelai, what price do you think is reasonable for the model that I mentioned in the title?

Definitely overpriced. Late last year I got a 2015 11” i5/8GB/256GB in.nearly perfect shape for $400. A reasonable price for that machine would be somewhere in the $300-350 range. The pre-2013 Airs aren’t holding their value terribly well.
