I charge it every morning, around 9 AM, to 80%. By the end of the day, around 10 PM, my battery is around 50%. The average SOT is around 3 hours or less. Is this normal? It has been like this from day 1. I have followed all the recommendations to make the battery last longer, turned off the app refresh, etc. I don't use the always-on display.

In the first image below, why does it show the battery usage under 50%? As I have already mentioned, I charge it every day to 80%.

Because you appear to be using less than 50% of a charge. In fact, for example, you say:
I charge it every morning, around 9 AM, to 80%. By the end of the day, around 10 PM, my battery is around 50%.
Eighty minus fifty equals thirty. And by looking at the Usage graph, I would agree the median is about thirty.

Considering your background usage is very high, it's a good amount of SoT.

If you don't plan on consistently upgrading every year, then this usage habit would see your battery last 3-4 years minimum.

Holy misleading title Batman. You’re getting far more than 3 hours screen on time, you’re only using 30% of the battery.
I have been using the same 30% of the battery on the 13 Pro Max and was getting at least twice the screen on time.

Do you have AI enabled? If so, try turning it off, that is supposed to have a big effect on battery life when enabled.

I have tried both on and off, it doesn't seem to make a difference, I don't use AI. Apple's implementation of it in its current version is not user friendly, it is a much better experience to just use Chat GPT's app.

You're saying you were getting 6 hours SOT from 30% battery?

I'm not having it!
Yes, maybe a little bit less. Look at the screen shots I've posted from the 13 Pro Max. I have auto brightness disabled. I have set the brightness to about 30-35%. I mostly listen to podcasts and send an occasional text here or there. Not many phone calls either, and if I make a call, I turn the screen off.

Before I got the 16 Pro Max, I upgraded my 13 Pro Max to iOS 18 and the battery started dropping like crazy. I thought, ok, it's an old phone, the 16 Pro Max is going to be better, it is not. It's a little bit better, but it just doesn't hold the charge the way 13 Pro Max did before the iOS 18 upgrade.

Yes that would imply 20h SOT. The iPhone 13 Pro Max didn't have that.
For 16 PM, apple claims up to 105 hours of audio playback, which is mostly what I use it for and up to 29 hours streaming video.

If it should last for 29 hours streaming video, it means that if I use 30% of the charge while streaming video, which I don't do, it should last for 8.7 hours. 30% of 29 hours = 29 X 0.3 = 8.7 hours. This is not even close to what I'm currently getting. I don't even get a half of it.

Yes, but on the graphs you posted you charged your 13PM to 86 & 92%. 16PM shows 80%. Charge the 16PM to 92% and 86% to see what the difference is. The 13PM will probably still be ahead but it should be a closer
