Is "An American Carol" going to be as dishonest as it looks?

Holy (fill in the expletive of your choice).

I just saw the trailer for this thing and was appalled.

Please tell me the trailer for this movie does a great disservice to it, and that it is not going to be as dishonest as it seems.

Dishonest? Not particularly (unless you count the "David Zucker, master of movie satire" part. David's definitely the weakest of the ZAZ directors).

    Irreverent? Slightly.

    Funny? No.

Well it's got Kelsey Grammer in it, so it's bound to be stellar...

Why would liberals "take it" to themselves? ;)

Yeah, so I'm clearly not the target audience for this.

It looks unappealing on just so many levels--especially the humor. If something is funny, you can get away with so much, but if this was an example of the best parts of the movie, I'm quite happy to forego the experience.

    Piss poor.

Michael Moore makes films because he loves America, he wants it to get better. You* are unpatriotic for criticizing him.

*You was not aimed at anyone

I guess I shouldn't have made such a bold statement on the subject since I'm not well educated enough on American politics (and don't really care), then again if you think that film looks amazing then I guess you aren't either. All I can offer is my perspective of a outsider looking in.

Looks like an idiotic movie (meaning it has endless company) that might have a few funny moments. If anyone is upset about a satire making fun of Michael Moore, they've got WAY too much time on their hands. Upset about a movie like that Ben Stein creationism crap? OK. Upset about this? Please.

I'm not saying this movie is good. I haven't seen it nor will I but I can say some British humor gets lost in translation here in the states.

    It's a matter of taste ( or a lack thereof ) I suppose.

I'm just curious - but when was the last time there was a movie that satarized liberals? If you don't like it because it's unfunny that's one thing. But if you don't like it because it makes fun of your politics, then that's something else entirely.

That being said...it looks painfully stupid and unfunny.

    Wiki:
It's only about Moore to the degree that the straw man distortion of him (Michael Moore hates the 4th of July?) implies that people who appreciate his films are equally "unpatriotic". It's the vile idea that if you object to abuses of your Constitution, you're not a patriot, and you need to be visited by the spirits of George Washington and JFK or whoever to remind you what being an American is all about.

In the words of Peter Lorre, "How vomitable."

I can't believe anyone would even make a film about W. He doesn't deserve the attention.

If you can't laugh at yourself now and then, you need to step back and re-evaluate things.

If this film is funny, who cares? It's not like we don't see over-the-top caricatures of conservatives in popular culture all the time. Now the left wants to whine because someone's poking them with the same stick? Lighten up.

Yeah, pretty much what he said. I'm sure this film will be as 'dis-honest' to left wingers as much as the National Lampoon movies are 'dis-honest' to hard working middle class Americans.
