Hey guys. I picked up a 2015 iMac 5K a couple months ago and have been using it primarily for scholarly research for school and general homework. I absolutely love it! Since I purchased it, I haven't used my 2012 rMBP for anything other than general internet surfing... but thats when I noticed something. The iMac has a much pleasing display to my eyes. I dont know if its the colors or what could be different, but it just feels so much better and less blue to my eyes.

Does anyone else get the same impression? I plan on upgrading to the new rMBP when it releases and hope the screen on that resembles my new iMac. Anyway, just thought I would check in & ask!

P.S. Also, I know the new iPhone 7+ has the true tone display and I now find this much more appealing to my eyes as well. In comparison, when using my iPad Air 2, its just too blue compared to my iPhone- so maybe the same approach is happening between the iMac 5k and the 2012 rMBP?

I don't think the iPhone 7+ has a true tone display. If I'm not mistaken I believe that is only an iPad Pro 9.7" feature.

The iMac 5k display is superior to the rMBP. "The new Retina displays feature a wider color gamut that brings more brilliant and true-to-life colors to your desktop. With standard sRGB-based displays, many of the colors you see in real life never make it to your screen. The new Retina 5K and 4K displays feature a wider P3-based color gamut that provides a 25 percent larger color space, and with more available colors, images are more vivid, reveal even greater detail and appear more lifelike than ever."

I'm waiting for the new rMBP and I'm hoping it comes with the wider color gamut.

Display resolution is 5K. Of course it's better.
