I saw an iPhone 12 Pro at BestBuy and they had the Silver and Gold ones out and my first impression was it just looked like a lot of bling and just seemed to be screaming way too much “look at me!”

I felt the 12 design looked more discreet. I’m kind of disappointed in the 12 Pro’s design and I’m thinking about sitting out this round and just hanging into my 11 Pro instead especially since no carrier seems to have reliable Signals at all in my neighborhood.

anyone else agree?

I'd say that in my opinion the stainless steel frame worked better on the more rounded X, Xs and 11 Pro series. The flat edge makes it look a little like the tacky cases some companies made for the previous models. But maybe I'll change my mind if I buy a pro model one day - I've also only seen them in store and on videos.

I haven't felt the iPhone 12 physically yet. But from the pictures, the gold one is obvious bling, definitely catering to specific market. Apple even made the gold particularly yellow gold, unlike previous gold colors which tend to be subtler or closer to rose gold. I feel that that will be a good sell in Asia.

I chose a black iphone 12. A blue iphone 12 pro. A green mini. A graphite max. So me and my family can decide including the note ultra and fold 2. The note ultra is most likely going to one of my daughters as she loves to draw. And mini to my son as his first phone.

I know its subjective but for me, I don't like the gold at all. I usually like apple's gold but this one is very 1990's gas station fake watch gold to me.
The Blue is new and just like the green, its nice that apple does something different. I don't like it in any cases, even clear ones and it doesn't scream pro to me.
The white is very very white and silver. I like it, although my experience with polished stainless from apple, is that it doesn't age well. I think its a nice phone though.
I like the graphite the most. it looks a tad lighter than usual graphite or whatever dark grey apple makes. It does feel like its the most pro (fessional) of the pros.

I personally wish they would’ve used the brushed finish they used on the iPhone 4/4S stainless steel band. Better looking and doesn’t attract fingerprints.

The shiny stainless bands really look too like the shiny plastic mockups we saw before the phones were released, it just somehow doesn't look 'right' with this design. I agree with @larzy it looked a lot better with the rounded edges.

“If I use a Pro, I want people to look at me” kinda mentality. Some product must stand out in order to differentiate.

I don’t agree about the rest of the lineup, but the Gold color looks extremely blingy, tacky and tasteless.
Apple’s really giving the Escobar Phones a run for their money with this one.

I prefer the aluminum sides as well.

But the frosted glass on the back looks very nice.

This was a very nice gold.

I love it! It’s like jewelry or something which is nice when your spending once 1k on a smartphone. But if it doesn’t float your boat cool! Save the cash buy Bitcoin. That or put it in a case. I bought a green case which matches my silver/white exterior. What ever “bling” (I detest that phrase) there is will be covered. When I clean it at home that’s when I’m like 😍 omg this phone

Usually, brand name items are also associated with "quality". So there is nothing wrong with someone wanting to spend a little more $$ for quality stuff.

Tbh that's just as often not true as its true. Loads of brands put out cheap tat, often a good reputation allows them to get away with it for a surprisingly long time. Generally good quality does cost more, but paying more certainly doesn't guarantee good quality. But going back to the iPhones, I doubt the quality of the 12 is significantly different to the 12 Pro regardless.
