hopefully i wouldn't have to replace the entire top assembly in order to do this, but would it otherwise be possible to install a trackpad from a newer MacBook Pro so that I can utilize all the wonderful multi-touch features my laptop is too old for?

i know it would probably be impossible with one of the newer glass trackpads, but maybe from one of the later pre-unibody macbooks with multi-touch capabilities.

Sounds like a pretty decent idea, I've been wanting one anyway. Might just sell my MBP and try to upgrade to one of the later non-unibody MBP's.
