I heard on a Podcast, but they didn't seem too sure.... is it true? If so then I will have to go back to Windows in the future.

Thanks.

Is there any way to delete downloaded updates? It’s taking up so much room. Sadly it’s too late for one of my Macs.

How did you not see this coming?

If only Apple had a way of letting you know when you launched a 32 bit app in the last 18 months or it was published all over the web? Oh wait....

Because I don't follow any of it, I only just decided to listen to a Tech Podcast today... which I haven't listened to in years. I've also not had any pop up from Apple, I haven't used the store in years, I just boot up the old apps I have installed.

what OS are you running? the warnings were in mojave... either way, you don't have to move to catalina, so you should be fine (for now).

Apple always do this :/ I thought I was safe on Mac because it's x86, it supports both 32 and 64... no problems. All I know is I won't be buying another Mac again, a shame because I think Windows 10 sucks. The Mac was the last product from Apple I enjoyed, I don't like anything else that they've made... and the iPhone is too expensive now. However saying that, Apple have ramped up he Mac prices to crazy levels too....

I dunno what Tim Cook is doing, but he has been running the company into the ground.

Its not like you could just reinstall the older macOS, or pay attention to those popups your OS having been giving your for 18 months... Oh wait.

Whinetrain, hoot hoot!

Hey Scaramoosh, instead of being snarky I'll try to help with your completely valid concern. I forget the process, but you can put an installable version of Mojave on a thumb drive and downgrade your upgraded Mac back to the previous OS version. You an also clone one of your unaffected Macs or restore this one from a Mojave backup. Also consider that you can run your older apps in a virtual machine if you do update your OS to Catalina.

Windows 10 broke some XP apps, which is the equivalent of Catalnia not supporting 32bit apps. Just as with OSX, you would need to run those XP apps in a virtual machine. However, if you are willing to purchase Windows apps when you change, why wouldn't you just purchase the 64bit Mac apps.

I dunno what Tim Cook is doing, but he has been running the company into the ground.
I wouldn't get too proud about your "Tim Cook sucks because Steve Jobs never would have..." stance since SJ oversaw more than one OS change which broke support for older applications.

Word to the wise is that you should never update the OS on computers you rely on until you check for features or bugs which might affect you.

In the end, its you money and your computers but don't think hat moving to a different OS will save you the trouble of old apps not being supported by a new OS.

I'm a fairly heavy daily user of several iOS and macOS devices, and I saw nothing about it.

I have two 32-bit applications that are necessary to daily (and official!) life, and my office are no small shakes in the official world.

It caught us off guard and we had to roll back to Mojave.

Now, having said that, the popup warning, if you actually *read* it, warns you that those two mandatory applications will no longer work.

We tried anyway, and had to roll back.

No harm done, really, except for the lost time restoring. And, as you might imagine, that restoration took quite a long time.

Aside from that, no harm done.

Unless you see as a kind of "harm" having to remain on Mojave.
