I have a penryn 2.4GHz MBP (early 2008)
recently I had to get the screen replaced..
was wondering though, how do i know that the screen I got is an LED backlit one?as opposed to an older CCFL screen
it seems to be not as bright as the old screen
but then again it may just be me..

All 15-inch MacBook Pros from Mid-2007 and onwards with the 1440x900 screen resolution came with LED backlighting, which I believe was also moved into the higher resolution displays with the Late 2007/Early 2008 models, and now provided as well in the Late 2008 17-inch model as well.

I'm going by memory here, so if this information is incorrect someone please feel free to correct me.

ok.
justwondering though
what happens if my machine isnt led and i ask for a replacement screen...do they keep manufacturing old CCFL screens to cater for those customers?

I believe that Apple keeps a stock pile of their past inventory for cases like this; if you're covered under warranty it would be replaced with an equivalent or better display, however for older machines that used CCFL there is no way to switch it to LED, therefore you would possibly be looking at a new unit entirely.
