My big question with App Int is did it genuinely make Siri smarter with requests? Will maybe upgrade my phone if Siri is more useful now.

It is but that doesn’t make Siri any smarter. We still have to use it for things like HomeKit, Weather, Apple Music (where Siri is a joke especially on HomePod), etc.
